Review: imPress press-on manicure*

I know, I know...

First review, press-on nails. Really?

Hear me out. I mean, haven't you ever felt nostalgic for your youth? I remember happily playing with press-on nails when I was little girl. In fact, I had a thing for long nails (it was the 90s and long nails were a left-over from the opulent 80s!). All of the glamorous women on TV wore their nails long and and I was going to be just like them when I grew up. Perhaps the title of this blog tells you that I have fallen way short of that once-lofty goal.

These are imPress manicure's claims:
"Introducing imPress Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails, the revolutionary way to apply polish! Featuring advanced nail technology, you can get a salon-perfect manicure in seconds – simply peel off, press on, and you're done. There's no drying, a killer shine and a manicure that lasts up to a week! And, imPress is so easy to remove, you can change it up to match your mood as often as you want. Check out all 36 colors and patterns, including trendy brights, classic darks and animal prints. With imPress, your nails will always be your best accessory."

In any case, when I recieved this product in the mail I was apprehensive. How much could they have improved from when I was a kid. Admittedly, not much; however, they are still just as fun.

Here are the bulletpoints:
  • Easy and simple 3-step process (clean nails, place on nails, and press, et voila-- a perfect manicure!)
  • If you don't like the nail color or get tired of it, you can paint over the press-ons as you do with natural nails.
  • You don't have to do anything to take them off. After about two days, they will fall off as the adhesive naturally weakens with regular hand-washing and usage.
As a busy university student, I simply don't have the luxury of giving myself a manicure, much less going out to get one at a salon (pay to have someone paint my nails for me; quelle horreur! and, also, I'm too cheap. Cut me some slack, I just found a cool Harry Potter themed key fob on Etsy that I would much rather spend my dinero on). These nails took me no more than five minutes to apply and paint over with a nail color of my preference (I didn't like the color I was given). So, in less than five minutes I had a perfect salon-immitable manicure and I was back to reading the geek-tastic-- and conveniently chic-- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (move over Bella and Edward, there's a new fantasy couple in town-- and they're not lusting after my blood). Yes, it's true Virginia; we can have it all!

Definitely GEEK APPROVED! (Hooray, my first approval.)

This is what the nails looked like just after they were applied. Very shiny, very pink, so not me.

And here they are after I painted them. Pretty good, right? Or am I delusional? You would tell me, yes? Maybe it's better that you didn't-- haha.
